Roadtrip 2022 Fall: Richland - Boise - Ely - Kanab - Sedona - Joshua Tree - Paso Robles - Calistoga - Brookings - Cannon Beach

Day 54 - Brookings to Cannon Beach

We depart the beautiful Boardman Corridor at Pistol River.

mmmmm Dino hungry - like beige suv's - they match my skin tone.

So excited waiting for our usual amazing f&c at Fish market in Bandon. Something terrible has happened. The incredible crispy battered fries are no l0nger battered or crispy. Gone also is the extra crispy tasty batter on the fish. The chowder was flat and the coleslaw no longer had the get up and go of cranberry and some other yummy stuff. So many years this has been a coast staple stop. No more.

Wendy comes in with our huge disappointment of the day: the long-awaited fish 'n chips at Fish Market in Bandon, which has gone from " Best on the Coast" to "run-of-the-mill" (being charitable). We think the store has changed hands, and in any case, we can no longer recommend it, and we won't be going back. Too bad - this was a major reason to visit Bandon.

The map shows all mariners the stomping grounds of Codzilla, next to a 1/10 scale model of the beast. Codzilla is yet another Wildfire Lab experiment gone astray, but he does arise from his usual business of devouring unsuspecting oil tankers to defending the Coast from other unsavoury atomic-age monsters like Sportbra and Yahtzi.

Cornflakes, the major export of Coos Bay is spit into a waiting truck.

Dang!! Yet another blurry picture of Bigfoot.

That's it, folks!

Must move on to the next major coast attraction.

Waldport sports it's finest for Christmas.

Must be real - comes with espresso in hand.

Whatever happened here I'm not sure - but I like it!

Oregon Coast fixture - still alive and thriving.

ahhhhhh - Local ocean did not disappoint. Wonderful Amber behind the counter - dishing out our fresh seafood to be cooked up later.

The crab fleet in Newport is still tied up at the pier. The season has been delayed by at least a month. No crab for us.

A joly old style Christmas window in Cloverdale - yes Oregon, not BC.

A slightly creepy nativity - maybe it's the "bathed in red" lighting.

Even more creepy - like it's out of some horror flick - or the X files.

Can't miss finding Grumpy's
